Department of Applied Science and Humanities

Overview

The Department of Applied Sciences and Humanities teaches and promotes practical aspects of Applied Sciences and Humanities to build a solid foundation as part of the Engineering Education. The department prepares students for core engineering branches by educating them in the basic sciences of physics, chemistry and mathematics in the first year. "Engineering Economics" and "Principle of Management" are two Humanities subjects that strengthen the civic sense and ethics of the students. Environmental studies make our students stewards of the environment that sustains us, our families and communities now and in the future.

The department aims at holistic development of the first year engineering students. It prepares the students for higher studies required specifically for industries by imparting knowledge on the fundamental principles of Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics & Professional Communication. The courses taught by the teachers of this department lay the foundation of engineering sciences. Professional communication is of particular importance for improving the Verbal and Written skills of students. An understanding of Physics and Chemistry is essential to several engineering subjects like electronics, electrical engineering and engineering materials. Mathematics is undisputedly important in all fields of engineering.
